Road Trip Wednesday

Road Trip Wednesday is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where YA Highway's contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question that begs to be answered. In the comments, you can hop from destination to destination and get everybody's unique take on the topic.

This week's topic: If you couldn't use your own name, what would your pseudonym or penname be?

With much consideration, I have decided that my pen name would most definitely be:
Rosie Penhallow

Or, slightly less dramatic, I could be:

Rose Tyler

Wait...That one's already taken. Hmm...

How about:
Olga Flint

Oh, wait. We were being serious?
I guess If I was really trying to come up with a good pen name, one I was going to want to keep and write under for the rest of my life, I would keep "Rose" and for a last name go with something that started "Ma..." so my books would hopefully end up sort of near Juliet Marillier's. That would make me smile.
Rose Manner
Rose Maren
Rose Macaffey
Etc.
What if you couldn't use your real name? What would your penname be?

  1. I like "Penhallow". I've always loved the name Pendragon, because of King Arthur and all, and my last name is Prendergast, so...but really? A writer called Pendragon? That's just silly.

  2. I love Rosie Penhallow :) I am biased since my best friends name is Rosie. And Olga Flint definitely made me laugh out loud. I love the pic.

  3. How about Rose Martini? Perhaps a good Romance novelist's name. I think Rose (or Rosie) Penhallow would be a great Fantasy writer's name--though for a Fantasy writer, I would probably go with Rose rather than Rosie. As you can see, I think the pen name you choose should fit the genre you write. :)

  4. Rosie Penhallow sound so English and it also made me think of Pendragon as well. Well suited for a writer. :)

  7. Oh my favorite of your options was the one already taken Rose Tyler

I can't imagine using a penname, but it would have some family history (and I'd probably take my mom's maiden names because I love family history)

  8. Ha Ha! I love the pics with the names...very fitting. Rosie Penhallow is also my favorite. It reminds me of Pepper Potts from Iron Man for some reason :)

  9. Love the pictures :-) I will probably use my real name once I get published (even though my new last name is quite difficult to spell AND pronounce :-))
I really like Rosie Penhallow, quite fitting!

    *sigh* I miss Rose Tyler.
Seriously, I'm trying not write a comment that's just SQUEE! ROSE! ROSE! ROSE! Or just a wall of 'BAD WOLF'. Sorry, I'm letting my fangirl show. Thank you for this post--you cracked me up xx
