Road Trip Wednesday

We haven't done one of these in a while either. I thought it might be fun.

Road Trip Wednesday is a blog hop hosted by YA Highway.

Today's question:

If you could be reincarnated as any fictional character, which would it be?

Reincarnated . . . as a fictional character. There's an odd thought.

Suddenly I'm having a Jasper Fforde moment, in which I arrive in the BookWorld to find I can't leave again, I've been endowed with a magical power, gramisites are nibbling on the edges of my book, and Heathcliff (on his way to Hollywood) has just wandered across the front lawn of my enchanted cottage.

That being said, I think that this morning I would like to be Beauty from Robin McKinley's Beauty.

Beauty has to leave her family, but she gets a beautiful enchanted castle instead. A castle full of every book that will ever be written and doors that open by themselves. A little breeze talks to her and dresses her in fairy princess dresses and she has a wonderful horse.

And let's not forget she gets a handsome prince at the end.

As well as getting to keep the castle and the princess dress.

Who would you be?

So far we have a beautiful heroine, a handsome stranger, dragons, flying horses, a secret cave twenty stories under the street, and an evil Order bent on the destruction of all that is good.

    1. Followers by invitation only. Maybe we should try that.

Please arrive at 6 PM sharp. A dinner of half baked ideas will be served shortly thereafter, with wholesome dreams drizzled with Grecian ambrosia for dessert. The dancing will begin at 7, but don't fear. It will be in the style of Medieval kings and queens instead of that of this strange modern age. It's not hard to learn. The fairies will teach you.

Please stay the night (or longer) if you wish. We've bowers enough for all our sleepy internet guests.

Dress Code: Creative. If you've got a remarkable flare for metaphor, wear it. Or a taste for cogs and wheels that run on steam, wear that. Perhaps you like broadswords best, bring it (btw the duels are held at 9. We will be giving out prizes). Just please, please don't wear pajamas. If you transgress we'll get some of our larger guests to throw you out or dress you in something more appropriately colorful.

      Oh and yes,
by invitation only. We'll have the troll check your name at the door.

  3. Wow, what a fun question! Several come to mind, but the Chronicles of Narnia is one of my all time favorite series so I'll say Lucy Pevensie. Brave, full of joy and wonder, great adventures and voyages, always a queen. I'd be content.

  4. Great choice! I haven't read BEAUTY, but I don't think I would mind being reincarnated as her. A castle filled with every book ever written? I think that sounds more like heaven.

  5. I have absolutely no idea who I'd be, but I do love your answer!

  6. Yes! Great answer. :) BEAUTY AND THE BEAST has always been my favourite fairy tale, and I'm a sucker for a good ending.

  7. Wow! I can't believe I hadn't heard of this book! It sounds like a fun princess story. I love the idea of every book ever written at your fingertips. Great choice.

  8. Okay I need to read this like now. Why haven't I heard of this? Thanks for sharing.

  9. Uuuh, the books would be the deciding factor for me, great choice! (Btw, how strange was that first comment?)

  10. Ooo... an interesting choice. If I were you, though, I would be concerned about what happens between getting the castle and getting the prince. There's lots of story in there--and you know how these stories go... not all of it's nice. :)

    1. I thought about that and it entered into my considerations. This story is low on physical pain ;)

  11. Great answer (to the post and the "invitation")!

  12. Difficult question! I don't know who I'd choose. Someone who gets a happily ever after, for sure. Ideally in a really boring book featuring a heroine with a quiet life that stays quiet... yeah, that's never getting published. :)

    I haven't read Beauty.

  13. :0 I always wanted to be Beauty in beauty and the beast too. But my top choice would be Herminone Granger so I could be part of the famous trio and go to my dream school!!

  14. Oh, I loved that book! If I had to choose a princess, it'd be Belle, too. :)
