What's Up Wednesday

Hosted by the lovely sisters Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, What's Up Wednesday is a weekly meme/blog hop in which writer-bloggers take a brief post to share what's going on in their lives, writing-related and otherwise.  Check it out here or here if you want the details!

The semester is careening to a close, so class readings are taking over, which means:
Villette by Charlotte Bronte
Dante Alighieri's Paradiso (Dante is flying!!!!)
and other far more obscure things...

I've eeked out a little bit of leisure reading time, however, since I finished Throne of Glass last week.  I miss it.

Chugging along on the rewrite of TMC.  I'm doing #NaNoReviseMo with a goal to rewrite one scene a day.  I'm vaguely behind at the moment, but it's working!

This tea.

Yes, I initially bought it because there was a dragon with a woman in a pretty dress and a castle in the distance and HOW could I not try it??????

It also promised to tame my tension, which is pure gold, as long as it doesn't extend to my writing.

But it also--I know, it's hard to believe there is an herbal tea so excellent in so many ways--tastes REALLY GOOD.

It's also caffeine free.  <3

(I also think it goes well with Buckwheat honey--which may only be of interest to Tyler-Rose, but there it is...)

I've started giving myself ballet classes again.  It feels really, really good.  Hopefully I can keep this up.

Also, here at The Feather and the Rose we're wrapping up our year-long arcane-word-saving meme, Save-A-Word Saturday!!!  There will be a finale and prizes, and if you've never participated, this is your last chance.  ;)

Happy Day of Wednes, everyone...

  1. I really enjoyed JANE EYRE, so I supposed it's somewhat surprising that I never looked to see if she wrote anything else. Sure enough--there's VILLETTE. More erudite people than me consider this her best work, so I should probably check it out.

Mmmm... note to marketers: slap a princess, a castle, and a dragon on it (whatever "it" is) and Susan will buy it. I'll bear that in mind when deciding on the cover for my novel... ;)

I hope the re-write goes well this week, Susan!

    1. Haha, that plan would totally work on me, Colin!

And warning: VILLETTE is very, very, very different from Jane Eyre. Really interesting. But also not as uplifting. It was written after all Charlotte's siblings died and carries with it a lot of the loneliness she experienced for the rest of her even though I'm not done with it I can tell you it's quite sad. But definitely worth a look. It's rather eye-opening to compare it with JANE EYRE.

  2. I don't blame you for trying that tea, the box is awesome! I would have got it, too. Good luck with your revisions! :)

    1. Thanks, Laura! And was nice, because what started as a superficial impulse buy turned out to be a really good thing. :)

  3. My mom used to give me tension tamer tea all the time when I was a kid. Back then I thought the daily cup of tea was simply a hot beverage I good drink while my parents had coffee, but now I wonder if they were hoping it would calm me down. I was a pretty hyper child. I'm glad that you have found it now. It is tasty, and I didn't even know my childhood beverage had a dragon on the box.

  4. That's a great reason to buy a tea. If nothing else, you can stare at the box ;)

  5. Can't start a day right without tea. Mmmmmmm ^_^

Ooooh, ballet! Enjoy. Such a beautiful style of dance :)

  6. Day of Wednes... That soooo sounds like something my mom would say.
Not saying you sound old, Susan. Saying you sound crazy. X)

  7. So, my WiP is currently acronymed TMC too. Great minds think alike? :)

And yay for the ballet! I want so much to get back to tap dancing. I love all forms of dance actually, but tap is my fave.

    Have a great week!

  8. Tension Tamer. I think I could use some of that, as my life is all tension. LOL.
Good luck with NaNoReviseMo! You can do it!

  9. That is an amazing tea. Like seriously. =D

    Good luck with NaNoReviseMo!
