What's Up Wednesday

* Tyler-Rose momentarily commandeers the ship to let everyone know that this is our 300th blog post!!!! YAAAAY! Uh-hem. Carry on. *

Hosted by the lovely sisters Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, What's Up Wednesday is a weekly meme/blog hop in which writer-bloggers take a brief post to share what's going on in their lives, writing-related and otherwise.  Check it out here or here if you want the details!

The What's Up Wednesday logo is set before a background of a flowering tree.

WHAT I'M READING

Still working through A Game of Thrones.  Still loving it.

Also lots of lyric poetry for my Renaissance Lit class.  Here's one of my favorites--a song by Shakespeare that my professor made us memorize.  (By the way, Tyler-Rose, I misspoke yesterday--it does come from a play.)

WHAT I'M WRITING

Almost done re-drafting the first 100 pages of THE MADMAN'S CROWN!  It looks like I'll be tackling it in four chunks, so nearing the 1/4 mark is good news!!

WHAT INSPIRES ME RIGHT NOW

The fact that the snow has FINALLY melted.  For a while there, I forgot what it was like to go outside without a parka.

WHAT ELSE I'VE BEEN UP TO

We're nearing the end of the semester, so mostly I've got the usual insane busy-ness with finishing papers and projects and wrapping up the year!  (Hence the general lack of blog in the past few weeks...)

While doing some baking to relieve end-of-semester stress, I got one of THESE to make cupcakes with.  It worked amazingly well--super-efficient and fun to use!  And the result was delicious:

This is a red velvet cupcake in the sun.

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

  2. A batter dispenser?! Uh...where has that been all my life? Your cupcake looks yummy. It's making me want to whip some up. Perhaps I'll take a gander past my treadmill first and maybe rethink the cupcakes. ;-)

Good job on the redrafting progress! Four solid chunks seems like a great way to tackle the thing. I'm currently stuck somewhere in the first quarter of my story, so hopefully I'll catch up soon.

I really have to agree with you on the wonders of disappearing snow and walking around parka-less. The same thing is happening up here in Alberta and it's WONDERFUL. Hope your week is equally wonderful, Susan! :-)

    1. LOL definitely good idea to say hello to your treadmill first. ;) I tend to do both, which is better than cupcakes only, I suppose. Glad to hear that you are experiencing some warmth up in Canada as well!

  4. nice weather makes life and writing a bit easier (I include raining in that category). Sounds like you're doing great with edits, a hundred pages is impressive! That cupcake looks delicious, I hope it tasted as good :)

    1. Thanks! :) I agree about the weather--it is especially helpful to not be freezing cold every time I sit down at my desk!

  5. Congrats on the progress with your WIP. And I'm right there with you about the weather - my legs feel lighter without having to lug around boots every time I go out. Have a great weekend!

    1. Thanks! And isn't it magical? The first time I went out without being in a coat and boots felt bizarre. Good, but strange...
